ORLANDO, Ethel (Betty)April 9, 1917 - July 3, 2011
Published in the Toronto Star 7th July 2011.Passed away peacefully on July 3, 2011 at Erin Mills Lodge Retirement Home in Mississauga, Ontario. Betty was born the day Vimy Ridge was captured and always wished her parents had named her Vimy instead of Ethel. Ethel was the daughter of John and Agnes Urquhart of Glenholme, Nova Scotia. Loving mother to Margaret (Demetrios) Vagalatos of El Paso, Texas, Eugene of Truro, Nova Scotia and John (Colleen) of Oakville, Ontario. Betty was a loving grandmother to 6 grandhildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is the last member of her immediate family, predeceased by her first husband John (Jack) Smith (WWII), husband Norman Orlando, brother Fred Urquhart, sisters Maize, Elsie, Mabel, Eileen, Florence, Dorothy and Hazel. Ethel's love of her Maritime home and passion for family and friends will be missed by everyone she knew. Her remains will be buried in the Glenholme Cemetery beside the church with Norman.
